Homemade Bread

Bypass the bakery in favor of your own home-baked bread. Slice it whatever way you want. It's the perfect way to introduce your family to fresh baking.

Ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 18 floz warm water
  • 9 teaspoon(s) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon(s) salt
  • 2 tablespoon(s) canola oil
  • 6 3/4 cup(s) wheat flour

Directions

    1. Dissolve yeast in a bowl of warm water. 
    2. Add sugar, salt. and oil and 3 cups of flour, then stir until smooth. 
    3. Add in remaining flour, 0.5-cup at a time, until a dough forms.
    4. Place dough onto a floured surface and knead until dough is smooth and elastic. This may take about 8-10 minutes. 
    5. Place dough into a prepared bowl, turning over to ensure top of dough gets coated.
    6. Cover and let rise in a warm place until it is doubled. This should take about 1.5 hours. 
    7. Punch dough down.
    8. Place dough onto a floured surface and cut in half.
    9. Place each dough into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan and mold dough. 
    10. Cover and let rise again until doubled. This should take another 30-45 minutes.0
    11. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for until bread is  3golden brown or for 30-35 minutes.
    12. Remove from heat and let cool. Slice.
